Tone Of Market Maintained
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, September 20. At the closing wool sale of the present London series yesterday 7000 bales were cleared of the offering of 8144. New Zealand contributed 5953 bales with most of the remainder from Australia. The tone of the market was well maintained with the Home trade again the principal buyers, with useful Continental support. New Zealand greasy crossbreds of good to average styles were fully firm, but average to inferior sorts sold at par to 2J per cent, cheaper than the opening day values.
The scoured selection ruled fully firm with shearlings and crutchings in the sellers’ favour. Throughout the series 43,800 bales were offered and 34,800 sold. The Home trade secured 24,000 and the Continent 10,000. The tone of the market was well maintained with competition good. • Compared with the July series, New Zealand greasy crossbreds were 2£ per cent, cheaper and scoured crossbreds 5 per cent, cheaper.
