Regulations to register, licence and control homes for old people are provided for in the Statutes Amendment Bill which was introduced in the House of Representatives early on Saturday morning. The regulations may prescribe minimum standards of accommodation and staffing for homes for old people, and provide for th* inspection of homes. They mav set licence fees~pavable by the proprietors homes, prescribe the conditions for the granting and transfer of the licences and their cancellation. and exempt anv particular home from all nr anv of the provisions nf the relations. “Home” is defined as anv premise where two or mcfce persons of 65 or over who are not related tov blood or marriage to the householder are in residence, pavihg for their lodging and for one or awe meals a day. They are premises which are. or purport to be. mainly for aged or infirm
