Memorial Avenue Houses

Sir, —It is illogical that any Government department should want' to buy some of the most expensive land in Christchurch for State housing. What a pity, too, that the beauty of Memorial avenue will be disfigured by the erection of ,these' unimaginative dwellings, and what an eyeopener for the tourists whom we are so anxious to attract and create a good impression. Have our 'town planners no imagination? —Yours, etc., DISGUSTED. September 4, 1958.
