Otago Beaten In Final

Southland won the 1858 women’s basketball first-grade title by beating Otago at Rotorua, 36-16, to give them an unbeaten record for the week's tournament. The runner-up was Canterbury. ' which befit Auckland this morning, and thus suffered one defeat. Auckland had previously drawn one and lost one. Wellington, beaten by Rotorifa, is • the team to be relegated to second grade. i, • Four third-grade teams are involved in a round robin play-off to determine which side shall be promoted. They are Canterbury SubAssociations, Ashburton, South Canterbury, and Thames Valley. ' West Coast and Horowhenua were < drawn for a play-off to determine the team which will be relegated to • third grade next season.
