“THIS IS BRITAIN” RECORD

LONDON. A gramophone record has been specially made to appeal to erstwhile tourists, expatriate Britons, and other lovers of the United Kingdom. It takes the listener to 15 nostalgic minutes from St. Paul’s Cathedral and its choir to the London street market at Pet-

ticoat lane, from a debutante bail to England’s ancient Helston Furry Dance, from the Duke of Bedford’s stately home to Speakers’ Corner in London’s Hyde Park. Mark Johns has produced the record from the company’s own recordings and material supplied by the British Broadcasting Corporation. It is called “This is Britain: A seasonal picture in sound” and portrays England during the spring of 1958. If it appeals further records will be made in the same series.
