CAMBRIAN SOCIETY HONOURS MAYOR

Life Membership For Mr Manning A social evening was held on Saturday by the Cambrian Society of Canterbury to honour Mr G. Manning on his election as Mayor of Christchurch. The president (Mi’ J. G. Parry) presented him with an inscribed silver silver. He said that Mr Manning had been a member of the society since 1910, and then told him that he had been elected a life member of the society. Mr Manning recalled his early associations with the society. Mrs Thomson and Mrs Wilkins presented Mrs Manning with a posy of flowers and a bouquet. Mr Parry spoke on the recent announcement that the Queen had created Prince Charles the Prince of Wales.
