CURTIS CUP
U.S. And British Women Draw (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) WEST NEWTON (Masschusetts), Aug. 9. Britain, the holder, and the United States drew, 41 points each, in the Curtis Cup women’s golf international today. The result hung on the last match between Mrs Frances Smith, former British champion, and Miss Polly Riley, playing in the Curtis Cup for the sixth time. The match was all square at the twenty-seventh, but Mrs Smith rallied to win by two holes and enable Britain to draw. Britain led 2-1 after yesterday’s foursomes, but the United States, in today’s 36 holes singles, won three and halved one. Britain won two singles.
PROFESSIONALS v. AMATEURS

August 9 Joe Carr of Sutton (County Dublin) beat Eric Brown, of Buchanan Castle, 2 and 1 in today’s 36-hole singles of the amateur-professional golf match at Turnberry, Ayrshire Christy O’Connor (Killarney) lost 5 and 3 to Reid Jack (Dullaturi after holding a four-hole lead over the amateur early in the second round. Harry Bradshaw (Portmamock) also lost to his amateur opponent. He was beaten by one hole by J. Walker (Irvine). R.S.A. Beats Travellers In Annual Match The Christchurch R.SA. beat the Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association in their annual golf match played at the Templeton links at the week-end. The match was for the L. J. Taylor cup, and R.S.A. had a clear win by 9 games to 5. In a handicap match played in conjunction, the best gross score was returned by E.
