Snooker Results There were few surprises in the first and second rounds of the Canterbury snooker championships held in Chi\stchurch last week. Several of the province’s leading snooker players have survived the early rounds and will contest the quarterfinals tomorrow. The semi-finals will be held next Thursday. Results were:— First Round.—D. Higgins beat T. Mintrom, 2-1; R. Stewart’beat W. Anderson. 2-0. Second Round.— Higgins beat Stewart, 2-1; V, Choat beat M. Hamilton, 2-0; K. Murphy beat A. Sutherland, 2-0; A. Falcon beat P. Prince, 2-1; G. Cormack beat H. Hewinson, 2-0; D. Mann beat N. Aitken, 2-1; R. Franks beac J. Miller. 2-0. The results of C and D grade inter-club billiards matches played last week were:— C Grade. —Christchurch R.S.A. (Folan 150, Butts 150, Burbridge 150) beat Lyttelton Railway (Morgan 110, Hullan 120, Hands 125); Woolston W.M.C. Sheard 126, Hutchinson 150, Aschoff 150) beat St. Albans Library (Greaves 150, Coomb: s 125, N. Davey 128): Post and Telegraph (Foley 150, Hobday 143, Righton 150) beat New Brighton W.M.C. (Gray 125, G. Thomas 150, N. Thomas 145); New Brighton R.S.A. (Moore 150, Jackson 84, Whiting 150) beat Christchurch W.M.C (E. Davey 147, Connor 150, Rashbrook 135).
