EDUCATION IN HEALTH
Department Test Paper
The Health Department has prepared a questionnaire to test the efficiency of its education programme. The questionnaire is i intended for secondary schools, university and young persons’ groups and. possibly, the army. ; “We are not interested in indi- ! vidual answers to the questions, but want to get an over-all picture.” said the Medical Officer of Health (Dr. A. Douglas). “No attempt will be made to assess individuals by allotting marks, but we hope that much valuable information will be gathered as to where there are gaps, wrong attitudes and misinformation on health knowledge.” A trial test on four 18-year-old cadets in the Department of Health showed that the questionnaire was not too difficult, and could be completed within an hour. The questions vary in difficulty from question to question, and within themselves. The aim has been to straddle t*he range of knowledge likely to be found in individuals with a recent secondary school education.
Subjects cover a wide range from mental health to care ot teeth and there are up to 10 questions deal’ng fully with each aspect of health.
