Rugby RECEPTION FOR MAORIS
Australian Team Not To Attend (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MELBOURNE, July 3. The Australian Rugby Union test coach. Bill McLachlan, has refused to allow his players to attend a civicreception to the touring Maori Rugb) team at Melbourne. “No fraternisation,” McLachlan told his players and Victorian Rugby Union officials yesterday. “We’re going to win this test,” he added. The Maoris will meet Australia in the third and deciding test of the current series at the Melbourne Olympic Park on Saturday. The Australians will be represented at the reception by the team manager and captain. Australia won the first test, and the second was drawn. Australian Rugby Union officials are hoping for a “bumper” gate to bolster the takings of the Maori tour in spite of the fact that Melbourne is “foreign territory” to Rugby Union. The Australian selectors have made one change—the Newcastle fiveeighths R. Harvey has replaced A. Summons, who has dropped out with an injury. The Maori team will be:—M. Walters. H. Phillips, P. T. Walsh (captain), R. King, M. Raureti or E Thompson, E. Whatarau, K. Davis, or R. Keepa; R. Walker, H. Emery. H Paiaka, A, Pryor, M. Bevan (vicecaptain), G. Koopu, W. Wordley, B Jones.
