Income Tax Forms
Sir, —Complaints have been made about the complicated nature of income tax returns, and not without good reason, for it appears to be a far more involved process than it was a year or two ago. Doubtless, this is all gobd meat and drink for the pundits who thrive on unravelling the mysteries of the procedure on behalf of their bemused clientele, but can it be honestly contended that the unquenchable thirst for information that seems to pervade most Government departments is not largely to blame? Does anyone in authority, perusing one of the latest products of the forms factory, ever stop to ask how much of it is really necessary and how much is easily intelligible to the average citizen?—tYours, etc., ILAM.
