AUSTRALAN WOOL SALES
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) MELBOURNE, May 29. Values at Geelong wool sales today closed at the highest point of the week, and the trend in sellers’ favour over the last few weeks continued to improve, according to Geelong woolbrokers. Good length wools were eagerly sought and short wpols commanded a more selective dema'nd. Lambs and oddments improved considerably, and relative values, as compared with fleece, are now about back to normal, the official report said. There was keen competition from the Continent, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom for the 8700 bales, of which 8600 were cleared. It was unofficially reported that Communist China gave some support. There was a good selection ranging from good spinners and good topmaking Merinos to average to good comebacks and crossbreds. Crossbred prices:—extra super 60/64’s, BUd; good to super 56’s, 72d; good to super 50’s, 66d; good to super 46's, 52d.
