WELLINGTON WOOL SALE
Prices Unchanged (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 29. Compared with the previous day’s sale in Wellington prices were substantially unchanged, second shear wools in particular were very firm and the limited quantity of average to good style fleece wools inclined in sellers’ favour and inferior oddments showed an easing tendency, says the official report bn the sale of Auckland wool held in Wellington today. Six catalogues containing 16,435 bales of binned wools which remained unsold at the final sale in Auckland were submitted to auction. These catalogues contained 33 1-3 per cent, second shear wool, 26 per cent, lambs wool, and the balance oddments, with a small proportion of fleece wool. This wool was drawn from all areas of the Auckland selling district ranging from Taumarunui in the south to the far north. Although there were a proportion of good style wools the offering generally was not up to Anal sale standard. All buyers were present on the benches and competition was reasonably well spread. Principal interest was shown by the Continental section of the trade with support from the U.S.A, on suitable types. The N.Z. Wool Commission again actually supported the offerings of lambs wool and poorer style oddments. There was practically a total clearance at auction. Prompt date for the sale is Friday, June 13, 1958. No official range of prices was issued.
