Smithfield Strike Continues

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright; LONDON, April 28. Supplies of chilled imported meat from the docks slumped at Smithfield, London’s main market, today, when the strike of traders’ van drivers over a pay claim entered its second week. A Smithfield dealer reported that chilled meat supplies. were much less than usual, but fresh home-killed meat arrived by train and other long-distance transport. New Zealand meat was not much affected: a New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board spokesman said today, because barge and railway shipments were continuing.
