Mt. Pleasant Route Extended Representations made by the Mount Pleasant War Memorial Community Centre, asking that the present bus route be extended from its terminal along Bellvue terrace to the junction of Mount Pleasant road, were acceded to bv the Christchurch Transport Board at a meeting yesterday afternoon. On the recommendation of its works and traffic committee the board decided the extension should be made for- all trips which had sufficient time in the existing time-table to cover the extension. The fare to the new terminus will be increased by Id. The community centre also requested that the board run some nf its buses bv way of McCormacks Bay road to Maffeys road to serve the housing settlement on Maffevs road hill The board considered that the housing settlement in the area was verv small and refused the application. After a recent revision of the time-table four fewer trips went to Sumner between 8.45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and the Sumner Residents’ Association and the Redcliffs Burgesses' Association made a request for the restoration of the 30-minute service. After considering the matter, the board decided that two additional trips be provided, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. These trios will be scheduled to leave Sumner for Cathedral square at 10.30 a.m. anH 1.10 om. The effect of the board’s approval will be to provide two trips at times approximating those which were in the original time-tables. “It will be an experiment and will be reviewed after a trial.’’ said the chairman (Mr C. C. Holland). Cranford Street ■ Residents in the McFaddens road, Jameson avenue. Croziers road and Esperence street area of St. Albans asked for an extension of the Cranford street bus service from its present terminal at Weston road to McFaddens road.
