18 Nominees For Nine Seats Nominations of candidates to contest seats on the Christchurch Transport Board in the local body elections on May 17 are as follows: Central sub-district, (six to be elected): Messrs *R. G. Brown, •T. M. Charters, H. E. Denton, N R. Forbes, *G. D. Griffiths, «W. S. Mac Gibbon, R. T. Newman, I. T. Peterken, J. Shankland, jun., J. Roland Smith, L. C. J. Southon, R. H. Stillwell. Avon sub-district (one to be elected): W. E. Olds, J. Palmer. Heathcote sub-district (one to be elected): L. Christie, *A. J. Woodward. Riccarton sub-district (one to be elected): *E. J. Bradshaw, R. B. Jenkins. Sitting members are indicated with an asterisk. The general manager of the board (Mr J. F. Fardell) said yesterday that the Tramway roll had been purged to agree witb the Parliamentary roll of electors but if any person was not named on the tramway roll and wished to exercise his franchise he could do so on polling day by declaration vote.
