PAPARUA COUNTY CHAIRMAN
Mr J. H. Weaver Elected Mr J. H. Weaver was elected chairman of the Paparua County Council at a special meeting of the council last evening. The election was caused by the death of the former chairman, Mr C. A. Campion. Mr Weaver was not opposed. Formerly deputy-chairman of the council, Mr Weaver has represented the Sockburn riding on the council for the last four and a naif years. He has been the chairman of the Sockburn County Town Committee since its inception in April, 1956. A retired farmer, Mr Weaver has been a resident of the county for tne last 16 years. He will represeni the council on the district roads council of the National Roads Board, a position which was formerly held by Mr Campion. Cr R J. Roberts (Hornby) was elected deputy-chairman and Cr R. F. ing. A supplementary roll will close on May 2 and, if an election is necessary, it will be held on May 31. At the last triennial elections Mr Campion was returned to the council unopposed.
