SALVATION ARMY SERVICES
Easter Celebrated A demonstration of the Jewish passover feast was given at the Salvation Army Citadel yesterday evening by Senior Captain Lawrence Weggery, as part of the Easter services organised by the Salvation Army. A replica of the table as it was for the Last Supper was set up, and the significance of each of the 13 items of the feast was explained by Captain Weggery. Captain Weggery has a special interest in Jewish history, and was instructed in the form of the feast by Mr Ernest Lloyd, of the British Jews’ Society, who recently visited New Zealand. Other functions held during the week-end included a band playing Easter music in Cathedral Square on Saturday and the screening of Easter films at the Citadel afterwards A sunrise gathering was held in Victoria square yesterday morning.
