CHEESE-MAKING EXPERIMENTS

Continental Types To

Be Manufactured (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, April 6. At the beginning of next dairying season, the New Zealand Cooperative Rennet Company will begin manufacturing experimental batches of fancy cheese such as gouda, gruyere, camembert, and cottage in its factory at Eltham. If the experiments are successful then production will begin in a small way, said the manager, Mr C. Cassels, today. "We think that in view of import restrictions there is a market within New Zealand for Continental cheese especially amongst those people who have settled here since 1945,” he said. Production would be in conjunction with the Dairy Research Institute.
