MOBILE LIBRARY PROPOSED
A mobile library, similar to the vans operated by the New Zealand Country Library Service, to serve the newly-built areas of Christchurch where there are no public libraries, is proposed by the Christchurch Suburban Libraries’ Association. The association discussed the project some months ago and a letter was sent to the Christchurch City Council, but as yet no replies have been received.
At its annual general meeting the association reaffirmed its interest in the scheme and a further letter is to be sent to the council. Officers elected at the meeting were: patron, the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.); president. Mr F. C. Rambow; vice-president, Miss A. Hall; honorary secretary-treasurer, Mrs A. Williamson; executive committee. Messrs M. J. Ross. L. Lee, and H. Eaton; conference delegate, Mr F. C. Rainbow.
