CELEBRATIONS IN HUNGARY
Mr Khrushchev To Attend (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) <Rec. 9 p.m.) BUDAPEST, April 1. Mr Khrushchev, the Soviet Prime Minister and Communist Party chief, will head a Soviet delegation due to arrive in Budapest on Wednesday for the biggest official celebrations staged in Hungary since the 1956 rising, it was announced tonight. The celebrations are the “Liberation Day” ceremonies on April 3 and 4 to commemorate the end of World War II in Hungary. The official Hungarian news agency, M.T.1., said others in the seven-member delegation would be Mr Frol Kozlov, the newlyappointed First Deputy Premier. Mr Andrei Gromyko, the Foreign Minister, Mr Viktor Grishin, chairman of the Soviet Council of Trade Unions, Mr P. E. Shelest, First Secretary of the Kiev Regional Party Committee, Mrs A. O. Boykova, a secretary of the Leningrad Party Committee, and Mr Evgeni Gromov, Soviet Ambassador to Hungary. That Mr Khrushchev is visiting Hungary so soon after his appointment as Prime Minister is considered by diplomatic observer- in Budapest as underlining his support for the present Government and the role played by the Hungarian Communist Party chief, Mr Janos Kadar. VIENNA. April 1.
The visit of Mr Khrushchev will probably give rise to a meeting of party and government chiefs of the whole Eastern Communist Bloc, political observers said today.
The Eastern European leaders would almost certainly discuss all current problems such as the summit conference and nuclear tests, the observers believed.
