South Africa’s Future
(Rec. 11.50 p.m.) JOHANNESBURG, April 1. The South African Justice Minister, Mr Charles Swart, said in an election speech last night that it the British Labour Party continued its "slanderous campaign” against South Africa it would be difficult for her to remain in the Commonwealth. He was speaking at Odendaalsrust, in the Orange Free State. Mr Swart said in reply to a question that South Africa would decide whether or not she would remain in the Commonwealth when she asked the people for a mandate for a Republic. He said he would prefer to be out of the Commonwealth and remain white, than be in the Commonwealth and coloured. i
