Conservative M.P. Deplores Dumping

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) T^J JN X? N (Somerset), March 23. Mr Edward Du Cann, a Conservative member of Parliament, said yesterday that dumping of foreign agricultural products in Britain must be stopped. “A definite limit must be set to food imports,” he said. “ft. is unrealistic and unfair that bacon imports, were 11 per cent, higher in January this year than in January, 1957, when the British producer has been unable to sell his bacon pigs at a realistic price and bacon factories have been operating at less than capacity.

There can be no good reason for importing increased quantities of beef from Argentina, which has spread foot and mouth disease among British herds.” said Mr Du Cann. “There can be no fairness in allowing nations like the Swedes to dump butter in England when we are over-producing milk.”
