TOURNEY FOR COLTS
Semi-Finalists Decided
The semi-finalists in the Christchurch Bowling Centre’s champion of champion colts’ tournament are R. Page (Redcliffs). C. J. Cumberpatch (St. Martins), A. Oakes (Kaiapoi). and P. T. Hanrahan (Avon). The tournament, which is open to first and second year players, began on Saturday.
L. Polson (Cashmere), who played well in this tournament last year, was eliminated on Saturday in his first game, when he rrtet R. Neale (Kaiapoi W.M.C.). Neale won this tournament last year. Neale survived two rounds and was then eliminated in .the third by G. Hammond (Sumner). In this game Hammond had a commanding lead of 16-9 on the sixteenth head, but over the next four heads Neale improved his position by taking six shots to be within one of Hammond. Requiring one to tie or two to win on the last head Neale failed and let Hammond take one shot to win 17-15. C. L. Shields (St. Albans) was no match for R. L. Rdssiter (Burwood), who won a very onesided game, 25-4, the game finishing on the sixteenth head. Results were:— United Green First Round.—Elmwood (F. R. Cullen) 23, Mt. Pleasant (S.
