P. Blacker Shows Fine Form
Fine form with both bat and ball was shown by P. Blackler (St. Albans A) in the women's senior
cricket competition on Saturday Miss Blackler took eight for 15 and five for 35, including the hat trick, and made 85 not out in the match against Technical College. J. Stead (St. Albans B) batted aggressively against Teachers’ College, making 128 retired. Other players to make more than 50 were E. Wood (Beckenham) 56, and P. Keen (Mai Moa) 99. St. Albans B v. Teachers’ College A score of 211 by St. Albans B included a brilliant 128 retired by J. Stead. Miss Stead batted aggressively. and with good footwork. J. Watson 26 not out. J. Cockle 20, and E. Calder 11 all showed good form. Y. Lloyd for Teachers’ College took two for 58. Teachertf College at stumps had lost two for 22, J. Watson taking both wickets for four runs. Western v. Beckenham The competition leader. Western, made* a good start in the last match of the season by dismissing Beckenham for 53. of which O. Williams made a brisk 36. E. Woods, six for 17. and S. McCaw, four for 29, kept on a length and attacked the wicket. Western had lost three for 176 at stumps, E. Woods scoring 56, P. McCaw 36, S. McCaw 26 not out, and T. Prestige 45 not out. Mai Moa v. Kotahi Splendid batting by P. Keen, who scored 99 of her side’s total of 153, gave Mai Moa a good start. L. Bayliss (18) was the only other batsman to score double figures. L. Todd (two fbr 25) and A. Rouse (two for 38) were the best of the Kotahi bowlers. Batting for Kot/»hi. B. Harris scored 25 and L. Todd 27. P. Keen took t b ree for 14, and L. Bayliss three for 5. Technical v. St. Albans A P. Blackler was in fine form for St. Albans A. taking eight for 15 and five for 35. including th*» nat trick, and scoring 85 not put. Technical was dismissed within the hour for 26. T. King (12) was the only olayer to make double figures, although C. Moore (8 not out) defended well. St. Albans was in ♦rouble until Blackler went in. P. Moore bowled well, deserved her good figures of four for 27. Technical, batting again, made 72. P. Moore was batting confidently when she was run out at 39. Mi«s King, with 22, was the only batsman to make double figures in both innings, Blackler was again the main wicket-taker. St. . Albans A won outright.
