Youth Delinquency
Sir,—We read with interest the views of Dr. Ausubel and would like to express our agreement with some of the points he raised. Several years away from school have somewhat dulled our memories of school life. But certain aspects are not forgotten. Dr. Ausubel was particularly accurate in his references to regimentation in schools. Certain headmasters seem to demand subjection where co-operation would be more effective. Dr. Ausubel also made some very pertinent remarks on ostensible co-educa-tion. We know from experience that unnecessary segregation of the sexes in a co-educational school leads to young people meeting clandestinely where they would normally meet quite openly.—Yours, etc., FRUSTRATED. March 20, 1958.
