INVESTMENTS BY KRUPP
Reported Plans In Australia (Rec. 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, Mar. 9. The German industrialist, Mr Alfred Krupp, planned to invest millions of £’s in Australia, the Sunday paper, “Sun-Herald,’’said today. The newspaper said that Mr Krupp was believed to have made his decision after a preliminary examination of Australia’s industrial potential since he arrived 11 days ago. According to Mr Krupp’s London representative, Count Ahlefeldt, who accompanied him to Australia, the “Sun-Herald” said that the Krupp organisation had expanded so greatly in its new peaceful role that Europe was too small to hold it. Protest at Hotel
About 50 banner-carrying men and women led by two clergymen staged a demonstration outside the Hotel Windsor, Melbourne, late yesterday because, they said, they had heard that Mr Krupp was inside, registered under the Jewish name of Nathan. The hotel managing director, Mr R Nesbitt, who called the police to disperse the demonstrators, produced the hotel register showing Krupp registered as “von Krupp, Baron.”
Earlier, the secretary of the Liquor Trades Union (Mr J. Coull) protested to the Hotel Windsor management at having Krupp as a guest.
