Egyptian Airliner Crashes
PORT SAID, March 8. An Egyptian Airliner on a flight from Athens to Cairo crashed last - night about four miles z from Port Said, killing eight persons and injuring 18, Egyptian authorities said, according to the American Associated Press. The twin-engined plane operated by Misrair S.A.E. had tried to land at Cairo and Port Said airports but both were closed by the worst sandstorm in recent years. The pilot apparently tried a forced landing in the marshy Lake Manzala area southwest of Port Said. Motor launches were sent to rescue survivors stranded in the marshes.
