Opawa-St. Martins Sub-Centre
More than 120 dinners were being taken to elderly persons in Christchurch daily, said Mrs D. J Wales at the annual meeting of the Opawa-St. Martin’s sub-centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society yesterday. Mrs Wales thanked sub-centre members for help in the Good Neighbour Scheme. As the service had grown so big it had been decided to segregate it from the Red Cross Society. The chairman (Mrs N. Watson) thanked members for their help during the year, visiting'-the sick, taking part in the Good Neighbour Scheme and helping the Aged People’s Welfare Council and the Nurse Maude Association The following officers were elected:—President. Mrs N. Watson; vice-presidents, Mesdames K. Kyngdon and Mrs W. Taylor: secretary’, Mrs F. Rhodes; assist-ant-secretary, Mrs P. Hollander: treasurer, Mrs F. Polhill; assistanttreasurer, Mrs K. White: committee, Mesdames T. Carey. C. Ferguson, R- Jarden, H. Mathias, K. Whitlow, H. Leech. E. Helford. L Rose, H. Smith R. Loder: and Miss E. Bowron; auditor, Mr F. Rhodes.
