YEMAN AT PEAK OF FORM FOR TRENTHAM

WELLINGTON, March 6. Yeman eclipsed the other trialists at Trentham this morning. He ran the last milq of his work almost two seconds faster than the next best, and was travelling comfortably at the end. Ho Choy, ■ ftom a time point of view, was the best of the other Autumn Handicap candidates, but Llanisfair made a good impression without being asked for an effort. ♦ Summer Glow. Salaam, and Bugle Boy enhanced their prospects in the second leg, the Thompson Handicap, and others which impressed included Runada, Melanion, Fitnah, Royal Crescent, O’Reilly’s Bar, Ben Ledi, Starboard, Cheyenne, Cardinal King, and Devilry. Yeman (Jury) was slightly ahead of Daysun (Smith), with 10 lengths to Calcutta Sweep (Barber) at the end of a mile in Imin 42 3-ssec, the last half in 50 3-ssec. Yeman was not exerting himself at the end. He will be at his peak on Saturday. Daysun lost no caste in the trial. His main mission is the New Zealand St. Leger on the second day of the meeting. Calcutta Sweep was sore after galloping. Working late. Ho Choy (McLeish) and Contact Victory (Smith) completed a mile in Imin 44 2-ssec. coming from the half in 52sec, and from the three furlongs in 38 2-ssec Ho Choy will have to be taken on trust over two miles. Contact Victory worked well. Summer Glow Fit Travelling easily, Summer Glow (Hughes) was two lengths ahead of Runada (Smith) after six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last four in 50sec, and the final three in 37sec. Summer Glow has a good form background. Salaam (Smith) began easily from the seven furlongs, recording Imin 29sec. He ran the last half-mile in 49 2-ssec. He looks better than most of the other Thompson Handicap candidates. Bugle Boy (Wylie) was a length behind Regal Dignitary (Harris), with Imitation (Jones) beaten off at the end of six furlongs in Imin 18sec. Imitation was cramped for room m the middle stages. Melanion (Nuttall) left half a mile behind in 49 3-ssec, the final three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. His stablemate, Fitnah •• (Hughes) completed half a mile in 50 2-ssec, the final three furlongs taking 36 4-ssec. Royal Crescent (Nuttall) was more impressive than Subside (Smith) throughout half a mile in 49 l-ssec, the final three furlongs in 36 3-ssec. Royal Crescent looks in the right condition to atone for her recent failures. £

O’Reilly’s Bar (Wylie) was slightly ahead of Ben Ledi (Stokes), with Tawhiao (Hughes) a long way back at the end of half a mile in 49 4-ssec. The final three furlongs took 36 l-ssec. O’Reilly’s Bar could cause an upset in the Tinakori Hack Handicap. Starboard (Nuttall) had the edge on Rustic (Ellis), with Obeyance (Jury) a length away after running half a mile in 48 4-ssec. Cheyenne (Stokes) and Cardinal King (Wylie) were companions throughout five furlongs, the last four in 49sec. Devilry (Cowles) and Post (Smith) left five furlongs behind in Imin 3 3-ssec, coming from the half-mile in 49 3-ssec, and from the three furlongs in 36 3-ssec. Llanisfair’s Mile Llanisfair (Smith) beat Dalrob (Hughes) by a length at the end of a mile in Imin 46 l-ssec.» Llanisfair. under restraint throughout, ran the last half in 52sec, and the final three furlongs in 38 l-ssec. Golden Defaulter (Keenan) ran a mile in Imin 50sec. The last half took 54 l-ssec. Bagman (Stokes) and Paulo (Cowles) ran a mile together in Imin 45 l-ssec, coming from the half-mile in 52 4-ssec. and from the three furlongs in 39 l-ssec. It was good work. Nobly Born (Jury) was much too good for Jamassa (Harris) over a mile, finishing five lengths in front and recording Imin 45sec. With a solid weight. Blonde Sprite (Barber) was alongside Pinnace (Day) at the end of five furlongs in Imin 6sec. Braganza (Stokes) and Tombola (Cowles) were not asked for their best while running half a mile in 50sec. Teaka (Hughes) and Neptune’s Pride (Jones) were not at top while running a mile in Imin 49 4-ssec. The fastest part of the trial was the final half in 54 l-ssec. Tried in a hood. Genre (McLeish) worked sluggishly, and was no match for Warwick (Jury), which ran the last half of a mile in 52sec. Regal Stuart (Wylie) was doing better than Finito (Stokes) after running a mile in Imin 48sec, the final three furlongs in 38sec.. Showing her usual brilliance, Chattering (Smith) completed half a mile in 48 4-ssec. Kirklea (Singer) sprinted three furlongs in 34 4-ssec. Highlander (Keenan) worked easily.) and speeded up to complete the last mile in Imin 47sec. Alluring (Nuttall) and Maggie (McLeish) were together throughout six furlongs in Imin 21sec. From a flatfooted start down the straight six furlongs. Attila (Hughes) ran half a mile in 51 l-ssec. Canon (Stokes) and Money-Go-Round (Smith) ran a mile in Imin 46 2-ssec, the last , half taking 53 3-ssec. and the final three furlongs in 39 3-ssec. Money-Go-Round did not weaken in the run home.
