TRIALS FOR TRENTHAM

Royal Zorra Goes Well

"The Press’* Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH, March 6. At Awapuni this morning, Trentham candidates were given their final trials. Outstanding were Royal Zorra, from Waitara, Resemblance, Diadochi and Colchis. Nearly all of the galloping toqk place on the plough, which was faster than it was on Tuesday and provided ideal going. A slight fog which made sectional timing- of the early workers difficult lifted about half-way through the work. Royal Zorra . and Resemblance dashed over their first two furlongs in 25 2-ssec. and came home the last three in' 38sec to return Imin 3 2- for the five furlongs. This was really smart going on this track. Two other Thompson Handicap candidates, the stablemates Savage and Gundar Haegg, were also responsible for a pleasing trial. They ran six fbrlongs in Imin 19sec, the last three in 39sec. They were not knocked about and both are fit for Saturday. Diadochi and Colchis finished clear of Port Rush after running a grand mile in Imin 45sec, easily the best of the morning. They ran the first three furlongs in 39 2-ssec, five in Imin ssec and the last three in 40sec, to return a splendid gallop. Colchis is engaged in the Autumn Handicap and is in the right condition to give a good account of himself. Diadochi has never been better. Articulator, which looks certain to run prominently on Saturday, reeled off five furlongs in Imin 3sec, the last three in 37 3-ssec. He is above average and has got over the muscle soreness which troubled him earlier in his career. Solepic, which is another Aw’apuni runner in the Thompson Handicap, galloped freely over six furlongs in Imin 20 l-ssec, the last three in 39 3ANACAPRI IN FAVOUR First Leg At New Plymouth “The Press' Special Service WELLINGTON, March 6.
