Highlander For First Leg

"The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, February 28. The main interest at the Masterton Racing Club’s meeting tomorrow will be in the performances of a number of Candidates for the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting which opens next week. Several are engaged in the J. M. James Memorial and Waimana Handicap, on which the off-course double will be run. Highlander, which has a good record on the track, is assured of favouritism in the first leg, and Warwick will appeal in an open field in the second leg. Winners of these events; if engaged at Trentham, are not liable to rehandicap. Other winners at Masterton will be subject to penalties. The weather has been fine for the last few days, and the track should provide excellent going.
