KRUPP VISIT PROTESTS
Lithgow Mayor “Ashamed”
(Rec. 7 p.m.) SYDNEY. Feb. 27. Aiderman 'Harold Hefferman. the Mayor of Uthgow, 97 mile* from Sydney, is ashamed of the demonstrations made against Baron Alfried Krupp.
In Inviting Baron Krupp to receive Lithgow’s hospitality. Aiderman Hefferman said he felt ashamed that such demonatra-' tions should occur in a democratic country like Australia. Demonstrators shouting, booing and waving slogans and black flags greeted Baron Krupp at Sydney airport on Tuesday night. Aiderman Hefferman said: “Thia kind of publicity is the worst Australia could get overseas when the country is begging tor new industries.”
Aiderman Hefferman. who la an engineer in Lithgow's small arms factory, continued: ‘‘ln the last 12 months, engineers from Lithgow have visited Germany. We were not subject to demonstrations or hounded from the streets.
“We were treated like real people, yet we were engaged In the last war in making anna for use against Germany. “Lithgow will welcome anyone who offers us hope of industry. We have an unemployment problem. We would like Baron Krupp to discuss ,-it with us.” A member of Baron Krupp's staff in Sydney said Baron Krupp would get in touch with Aiderman Hefferman.
