An unreheased incident nearly disturbed the farewell broadcast of the Queen Mother from the Clarendon Hotel yesterday. A minute or two f before Her Majesty was due to start the broadcast, a Highland piper started playing outside the hotel, and was clearly audible in the room. Technicians from the Broadcasting Service had little time to take action, but the piper was politely silenced, just in time, by a quick-thinking police constable.
