PARLIAMENTS DIARY
The Parliamentary session began yesterday with the opening of Parliament by the Governor-General (Lord Cobham). The new Speaker (Mr R. M. Macfarlane) was confirmed in once by acclamation. Formal notice of the asking of a large number of questions, mostly based on promises made during the election, was given. Mr R. A. Keeling was elected Chairman of wmmiteevs. The Land and Income Tax Amendment Bill was introduced by the Minister of Finance (Mr A. H. Nordmeyer). The Prime Minister (Mr Nash) said there would be a full Address-in-Reply debate ' in the long session. In the evening the House met again to listen to the moving and seconding of the 1 Address-in-Reply. The speakers -were two new members, Messrs A. J. Faulkner (Roskill) and W. A. Fraser (St 1 Kilda). >
