Cycling HORNBY CLUB’S 10-MILE RACE

Clearing away from his opponents on the return journey of the Hornby Cycling Club’s weekly 10-mile race. R. Whitten won by about 200 yards K. Brown and B. Woodgate (20sec) fought out the second and third placings with N. Smith (Imin 20sec) a close fourth. Twenty started. Three miles and a half from the finish, A. Ayres and E. Dawson lost their' chances when they crashed. The scratch competitor, R. Lucas, rode a gallant race and only lost the fastest time by ssec to Brown. Results were:— R. Whitten, 26min 50sec, 1: K. Brown, 24min 5 l-ssec, 2; B. Woodgate, 24min 5 2-ssec, 3; N. Smith, 25min 6sec, 4. Fastest times: K. Brown, 24mln 0 2-9aec.
