INQUIRIES AT WASHDYKE
After the RoSewill Handicap at Washdyke on Saturday an objection was lodged against third placing being awarded to Procrastinator on the ground of galloping. After hearing the' evidence of the drivers con cemed and from their observations the stewards decided to disqualify Procrastinator for the race. Thum berlina was promoted to third and Cautious Lady to fourth. No action was taken against I. S. Sutherland, driver of Procrastinator After the South Canterbury Handicap a summary inquiry was held into the checking of Technician, driven by P. C. Williams, by Western Son, driven by H S Donaldson. It was found that Western Son was boring badly going out of the front straight and came in on top of Technician. Donaldson did his best to keep Western Son out and the incident was accidental. Between the three and the four furlongs in the same race a number 'if horses were checked. This was found to have been caused by the slackening of the pace. 1. M Behrns, driver of Dinnie Daley, did not anticipate this and ran into the back of Bonny Venture, checking a number of horses. Behrns was severely reprimanded. Cassado broke and nearly fell at the straight entrance in the same race. This incident was found to be. free of any interference. J. M. Bain was fined £5 for failing to weigh out with Captain King for the Lightning Handicap and the horse was withdrawn by order of the stipendiary stewards.
