ENGLAND DRAWS WITH WALES
(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON Jan. 18. England, winners of last year’s international Rugby Union championship. was held to a 3-3 draw by Wales in the Rugby Union international at Twickenham todav. Wales led at half-time after a second-minute penalty goal. England replied with a try in the fifty-fifth minute.
There have been no more than five points between the sides in their last seven matches, and this was another tight game. England’s selectors now have more aroblems to solve before the rest of the internationals than they probably expected, after winning all last season’s matches.
Wales, with no pretensions to attacking ability behind the scrum, was thought likely to fall away after establishing a meagre three-point lead in the first half, with the advantage of a strong wind. But the England pack. well disciplined in the tight, did not come Up to expectations in the loose and the Welsh forwards rarely lost command.
