Burton Again Outstanding

(New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 10. By registering the highest individual score in the men’s teams’ shoot at the national' archery championships, which concluded at New Plymouth today, the Gisborne archer. W. J. Burton, completed a performance unequalled at any New Zealand championship. With the exception of the field and flight events, in which he does not specialise. Burton wbn-every shoot at the meeting, finished with the highest individual percentage, based on nearness to highest possible totals in individual shoots, and won the title of best all-round archer baaed on placings in individual events. ' O. Holland (Alison Park) was second to. Burton ,in both these competitions, less than a point behind with 78.7 per cent. In the first, and equal with Mrs M. Burgess (Howick), three points behind Burton in the latter event. An intermediate boy, N. Booth (Dunedin), was third behind Burton and Holland in the possible event, and his score of 78.5 per cent, was only 1.3 behind Burton’s winning score of 79.6 per cent. In the best all-round archer Contest, Burton scored 40 points, and Holland and Mrs Burgess 37. Mrs C. Weir (Randwick) was fourth, with 35.4 points. Results:— Men’s Teams.—Alison Park, Auckland (O C.
