MAGISTRATE’S COURT

WEDNESDAY (Before Mr Rex C. Abernethy, S.M.) FINED £2 Remus Gordon Lilley, aged 51, a workman, was convicted and fined £2 on a charge of wilfully damaging five weatherboard sidings, valued at £2, the property of his brother, Romulus Walter Lilley. Inspector C. H. Reardon said the complainant had told the police that he was awakened at 3.30 a.m. on January 7 by banging on the side of his house. On investigating he saw the defendant outside and told him to leave. In the morning he saw the damage to the wall, and informed the police. The defendant was arrested in a semi-drunken condition at his home after he had admitted the offence.

(The Magistrate ordered restitution of £2.
