U.S. AIRCRAFT FORCED DOWN
Albanian Radio Report (N.Z Press Association—Copyright) BONN. January 7. A broadcast from Radio Tirana picked up in West Germany today said a United States T-33 jet aeroplane 'Lockheed Shooting Star) had been forced down over Albanian territory. The broadcast said the aeroplane had been forced down in the area of Berat, about thirty miles from the coast.
It gave the pilot’s name as Howard Keran.
The United States Air Force said in Washington tonight that a jet aeroplane missing in Europe since December 23 could be the aircraft reported by Tirana Radio to have been forced down in Albania.
The Air Force said that the T-33 jet trainer disappeared on a flight from France to Naples. Italy, and the pilot. Major Howard J. Curran, had been officially declared missing.
