Three Races At Timaru (From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU. January 2 The Timaru R class yacht Impulse, raced by J Clancy and J Shanks, finished first in the third and last race ot the series to win the Caroline Bay Cup competed for annually during carnival week There was a very tight, flukey breeze .arying between north-east and north-west and it was never strong enough to let any ot the 13 contestants show their sailing capabilities. impulse was lucky to catch the breezes at suitable moments and led ail ihe way to win by 22 minutes from the second boat. Conditions were better tor the second race on Saturday, a moderate wind coming from the north-east although the <ea was choppy The race was won by Vanessa, a Dunedin boat raced by W McCutcheon Results:— Second Race.—Vanessa.
