COMMUNISTS SURRENDER
(Rec. 8 p.m.) SINGAPORE, Dec. 28. The remnants of a Communist Party branch surrendered in Johore State. Southern Malaya, yesterday. They were the branch leader, a district committee member and two branch committee members of the Gementah branch of the terrorist organisation. There was a woman with them. A Government statement issued today said the five told police they had been short of food, and continually on the run avoiding security forces. Airdropped leaflets telling of the surrender of other party branch executives in the area had persuaded them it was time to come out too, they said.
