CHARTER FOR HUSBANDS
(NJZ Press Association —Copyright > PORTJi (Wales), December-16. Forty-five husbands at Forth have banded, together to form the “Ancient Order of Contented Husbands.” Their coat-of-arms is a hacksaw rampant against a field of ball and chains. Their charter, hung over each member’s mantelpiece, says: (1) Do disclose your wages. (2) Do not chop sticks or get coal for the wife. (3) Do not wash up or clean clothes, floors, or any such task that would discredit the order. (4) Do not fail to visit the club at least once a night. There is a waiting list of hopeful members for the club, founded by men of the Rhondda Transport Company. The secretary is Mr Ron Cory, a bus inspector. Mrs Peggy Cory said yesterday: “I thought there was something in it when I sent him out for 7s 6d worth of wool last week. He came home and said that he had put the money on a horse.” Another wife said: “Let the boys have their fun. There are ways of getting them to do what we want.”
