CURRENT NOTES

The Y.W.C.A. Mothers’ Club held its Christmas Party recently. The president <Mrs R. A. Ambridge) presided. The following programme was presented. Mrs Beatrix Crawford (vocal solos), Miss Kathleen Mangels (vocal solos and monologues). Mesdames Rina Burrowes and Hilda Reeve (pianoforte duets). Doris Pashby (humorous). Lina Meyer and Dorothy Becker (sketches). The accompanist was Mrs Hilda Reeve.

The St. Hilda’s Old Girls’ Association held its annual dinner and reunion at Connon Hall recently. The president (Dr. May Harding > received the guests. During the evening a presentation was made to Dr. Harding of kitchen utensils. She is setting up house for herself after leaving her position as warden of Connon Hall. After the dinner some films of her trip through Austria and Italy were shown by Mrs Jack Ferrier.

A large gathering of members and local organisations attended the annual November break-up of the Papanui League of Mothers. Mrs R. Markham presided. Sopgs were given by Mrs Greenaway, who was accompanied by Mr Brian Smith. Humorous items were given by the St. Albans League drama group Christmas carols were sung.
