AIR-NAVAL EXERCISES

N.Z. Ships To Participate (N.Z. Press Association —Copyright! CANBERRA, November 27. Royal New Zealand Navy frigates, minesweepers, and maritime aircraft will be among the warships. submarines, and navalbased aircraft of three British Commonwealth countries on naval-air exercises in the Tasman Sea from December 8 till December 11. . The Australian Minister of the Navy (Mr Charles Davidson), when announcing this, said that the exercises would be the most extensive ever held in the area. New Zealand will supply the frigates Kaniere. Pukaki, and Rotoiti, the ocean minesweeper Stawell. and maritime aircraft of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The United Kingdom will provide the frigate Cardigan Bay and the submarines Aurochs and Telemachus based at Sydney.

Australia will provide the air-craft-carrier Melbourne, the flagship of the Australian Fleet, with her Sea Venom all-weather day and night fighters and Gannet turbo-prop anti-submarine air-

craft, the aircraft-carrier Sydney, the anti-submarine frigates Queenborough and Quickmatch, and aircraft of the Royal Australian Air Force.
