WIDOWS OF STATE SUPERANNUITANTS

Adjustment Bonus Announced (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, November 26. The Minister in charge of the Government Superannuation Fund (Mr J. Rae) announced today that widows of Government superannuitants who have been receiving less than half the amount of their late husbands’ retiring allowance and bonus will now be paid a small adjustment bonus. The bonus will be retrospective to October 1 and every effort will be made to pay it before Christmas. Mr Rae said that with the improved minimum and cost of living bonus granted in 1955, thenumber of widows not already receiving half the sum paid to their husbands would not be very great. The Government recognised, however. that the adjustment was well warranted.
