A contingent of the world’s leading jockeys is due in Melbourne to compete in the Melbourne Racing Club’s International Stakes at Flemington on December 6. The first to arrive will be the South African. Charlie Barends, who is due on December 2. A few hours after Barends—all in the same airliner—will come England’s Lester Piggott. Italy’s Lionella Milana. Hungary’s P. Alafi. France’s Maxime Garcia, Germany’s Heinrich Bollow and India’s P. Khade. The Australian jockey. Scobie Breasley, who has been riding in England, is due to Melbourne in time for the racse. and has been invited to ride.
