New Club Rooms Opened
A “house-warming” was held by the William Morris Group at its new club rooms at 34 Ferry road, recently. Many members and visitors, who had helped the group to repair and redecorate a once-derelict room and transform it into an attractive new club room, were present. They where thanked by the group’s president (Mr D. Hurrell). With its new quarters, the group had ambitions to expand its music, art. writing, and drama activities. Mr Hurrell said. Entertainment was given bv the song group, conducted by Mr J. Thompson, by the skiffle group, and by individual artists. The new club rooms have pastel-coloured walls, on which are displayed bright posters, and multi-coloured floors. A modern stone fireplace has been built.
Fishermen Take Priest.— The Vatican has given permission for a Franciscan priest to accompany the fleet of 18 Bilbao trawlers which are making their normal winter visit to the African coast. Cifra news agency reported. The trawlers will be away for four months. They will be based on Dakar and will fish off the coast of the Sahara for tunny and other species. The priest is Father Manuel de Barriatua, who will be accompanied by another Franciscan. Brother Alberto Aur recoechea.—Bilbao (Spain).
