A very attractive offering of 16,760 bales today met keen and sustained competition on yesterday’s levels with a market quoted fully firm. There was a 99 per cent, clearance. Demand for finer Merinos was somewhat wider today. The Continent. Japan, and local mills led the bidding, with support from Bradford.

The 70 per cent. Merino proportion included numerous choice fine and superfine fleeces and stylish comebacks, largely from western Wimmera and the southeast of South Australia. Prices included: —Good to super 60-64’s. 94£d per lb: good to super 56’s, 85d; super 64’s, 108 d; good to super 60’s, 90d; super 50’s, 81 id.
